Tips on Installing Wall Tiles by Yourself

There are different tile adhesives for different sizes of the tiles. For wall and floor tiles up to 400mm x 400mm, Gomix C1TE tile adhesive will be an ideal choice; for wall and floor tiles up to 600mm x 600mm, C2TE super tile adhesive will be a good choice; for wall and floor tiles bigger than 600mm x 600mm, C2TES2 flex tile adhesive is the best choice. Or if you want to save more time and trouble, you can choose Gomix D1TE mastic tile adhesive, strong adhesion, highly flexible. It’s ready to use from the can, without need to mix with water, what you need to do is to apply them to the wall follow with the right procedure.

Here are some tips on how to install wall tiles in your home:

1 Before applying tile adhesive, remove any obstacles from the wall you plan to tile (light switch plates, oil, grease, light fixtures, furniture etc). Unplug electrical items and turnoff electrical outlets.

2 Make sure the drywall is smooth and doesn’t have any holes so that it can forms an ideas surface for tile adhesive. Patch holes as necessary. If it’s not smooth, apply Gomix Wall Putty (skim coat). Be sure to clean up dust after rendering.
3 Find the center of the wall and ‘dry fit’ your tiles to see if the pattern ends similarly on the edges. Use a pencil to mark vertical and horizontal lines where appropriate. You want the tile size to be consistent as they approach each end point. Double and triple check your measurements!

5 Apply the appropriate tile adhesive to the wall (3 feet at a time) with the notched trowel, starting in the middle of the wall. Set the wall tiles into the adhesive and place the spacers in-between each tile as you go. Be sure to give each tile a little twist to ensure a good bond with the adhesive.

6 Let the tiles set in the tile adhesive overnight.

7 Remove the tile spacers and mix the Gomix CG2 Tile Grout according to the directions.

8 Using the rubber flat trowel apply the tile grout at a 45 degree angle. Wipe off excess grout with a wet sponge.
